Welcome to The John Hampden School

Welcome to the website of the John Hampden School Wendover. We hope you enjoy browsing the site to learn more about our school, as well as giving you a flavour of what the school can offer your child.
The John Hampden School is an infant school teaching children from 3 to 7 years old. Staff and governors work hard to ensure that children are happy and challenged and leave the school with the highest levels of attainment they are capable of.  The school is very proud of its achievements and its excellent reputation.

“Pupils ‘love to learn’ at this school, fully reflecting the school’s motto. They are highly motivated and behave very well. High expectations permeate every aspect of school life, and pupils flourish, both academically and socially.”

“Staff do not waste a moment. Every learning activity is purposeful in the carefully designed, high-quality indoor and outdoor environments.”

“The evidence gathered suggests that the inspection grade might be outstanding if a graded inspection were carried out now.”

    Ofsted Inspection, February 2024

"High expectations and warm, caring relationships ensure that children make good or better progress, particularly in English and mathematics. The school is a calm, welcoming and nurturing environment."

"Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary, and pupils are polite both to staff and to each other. Parents and carers overwhelmingly support the work of the school."

"Pupils enjoy their school and love to learn."

"Pupils’ high achievement, the school’s focus on developing pupils’ understanding of the core values, and the strong transition programmes, ensure that pupils are very well prepared for the next stage in their education."

    Ofsted Inspection 2nd October 2018

"The school has developed an inclusive and harmonious community which is an ideal setting for all pupils to learn well."

"Attainment in all subjects has been well above average for a long time"

"Pupils work extremely well, both with others and on their own. They are incredibly supportive and respectful of each other."

"There are excellent opportunities for all pupils to be actively involved in the development of the school."

"Social, moral, spiritual and cultural development is strong. The staff, pupils and parents are proud of their school. It is a happy, welcoming and harmonious community."

    Ofsted Inspection 11th-12th December 2013

To gain a fuller understanding, please contact the school office to make an appointment to visit us, ask us questions and see our children working – you will be made very welcome.

If you require a paper copy of any of the information provided on this website, please contact the school office who will organise this for you, free of charge.
